Rupert Abercrombie died December 2018, aged 52, and just 6 weeks after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. He lived in Folkestone and had mental health problems for much of his life. This often meant Rupert found it difficult to socialise but he didn’t lose his appetite for food so he would visit the Mind Centre weekly for a well enjoyed cooked lunch and would stay to watch a film if he felt well enough.
Over the last few years, Rupert had serious physical problems which affected his mobility and so he was unable to visit Mind as much as he would have liked, but I’m certain Rupert would have been delighted and proud to see his name associated with this venture.
It is Rupert’s legacy to bring joy into our kitchen and to share it with as many people as we can.
