Abercrombie’s Community Kitchen is a social cafe project providing hospitality training & employment skills for those who have faced mental health problems, along with a welcoming space for community groups & support groups.
Part of Mind, the mental health charity in South Kent, the cafe raises awareness and funding for the mental health projects operating across the south Kent coast.
Abercrombie’s Community Kitchen is open five days a week for brunch, coffee, & lunch, and provides a space for informal meetings, social groups, peer-led groups, workshops, & cookery classes.
We are building a Community Cookery Library where you can bring & borrow recipe books, cookbooks, & baking ideas to keep you busy, entertained & fully nourished in your own space.
We have a wonderful food preparation space which is undergoing further renovation through winter 2019 and will be producing a ‘meal of the day’ along with a vegetarian option, light bites, tea, coffee, & soft drinks.
If you would like to volunteer to work at Abercrombie’s then please complete the volunteer form on the Folkestone & District Mind’s website.
If you have any old recipe books that you would like to donate, please drop them off at Abercrombie’s or to one of the Mind charity shops in Cheriton or Hythe.
